In critically ill patients, monitoring intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) is a key parameter in preventing serious complications such as intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS).
To meet the needs of intensive care settings, the Numantec Group offers Securmeter®, the manometric system designed for the indirect and minimally invasive measurement of intra-abdominal pressure through a Foley catheter.
Easy to use and designed to integrate with urine collection systems, Securmeter® enables reliable IAP measurement, supporting a more structured management of critically ill patients.
Securmeter®: Simple And Reliable Monitoring
Securmeter® is designed to simplify intra-abdominal pressure monitoring in intensive care settings:
- it enables sterile venting to atmospheric pressure thanks to the integrated clamp on the manometric tubing;
- it ensures direct transmission of bladder pressure;
- it features an easy-to-read graduated scale in mmHg;
- it allows seamless connection between the Foley catheter and the urinometer;
- it integrates a needle-free sampling port, eliminating the need for needles during priming and sampling procedures.
Securmeter® is an essential monitoring tool for the early detection of intra-abdominal hypertension, as it enables the prompt identification of risk conditions, supports targeted clinical decision-making, and helps reduce progression toward critical complications.
Securmeter® Benefits: Clinical Control And Integration
The adoption of the Securmeter® system provides tangible benefits for healthcare professionals:
- reduced handling: the system integrates between the Foley catheter and the urinometer, limiting the need for additional connections;
- elimination of needles during sampling: the needle-free port helps reduce one of the main causes of occupational injuries;
- compatibility and flexibility of use: the device can be used in patients with a body weight ≥ 10 kg and may remain in place for up to seven days;
- latex-free: no risks associated with latex allergies.
Securmeter® is also available as part of the Intra-Abdominal Pressure (IAP) Measurement System, together with a urinometer, Foley catheter, and a 20 ml pre-filled syringe containing saline solution (NaCl 0.9%).
The system is based on the indirect measurement of intra-abdominal pressure through intravesical pressure monitoring: the pre-filled saline syringe allows filling of the entire system and elimination of dead space; the fluid transmits the abdominal pressure, while the manometer detects the fluid pressure. The resulting value corresponds to the intra-abdominal pressure.
Why Choose Securmeter®
In critical care settings, accurate intra-abdominal pressure monitoring is an integral part of managing complex patients.
With Securmeter®, Numantec expands its intensive care portfolio with a solution designed to simplify IAP monitoring, reduce handling, and support clinical teams during highly complex phases of care. The device is developed to integrate effectively into existing protocols and contribute to a more structured and informed monitoring approach.
